Moon Landing 50th Anniversary
Registration is closed
Few events in human history are as momentous, as big, as historic as landing on the Moon. It's hard to find the words to explain what this meant in 1969 and we are still in awe today. At 238,900 miles away, getting to the moon was no easy task. Then landing, walking, re-launching and returning safely were equally as challenging. The men and women involved in the Apollo 11 mission did this successfully and we're celebrating the 50th anniversary of their brilliant work!
Apollo 11 launched from Cape Kennedy on July 16, 1969 with Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin on board. As Armstrong and Aldrin descended to the surface of the moon, Collins stayed back in Lunar Orbit. After an intense descent to the surface of the Moon, the "Eagle" lunar lander touched down July 20.
530 million people watched as Armstrong took "our" first step and uttered his famous phrase: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for Mankind." While there is some argument as to what he actually said, the point remains that this was a BIG DEAL—AND IT STILL IS!
You can run, walk or hike this race and do it wherever you want! Sign up now.
How this works
A virtual race is just like a traditional race but you can choose where you run! We'll mail your swag to you and then once you finish, we'll send your medal. All items are a la carte, so you can register for just the swag you care about.
When is the Race?
The official race day was the same day as the Moon Landing, but we have opened this extended registration period while supplies last.
You can do your race whenever you want... just finish and report by September 18, 2019.

Finisher Medal Info & Deadlines
The front side has the famous footprint and the back has the plaque that was left on the Moon 50 years ago. The medal includes a removeable ribbon so you can hang it with your other medals or use it as a decroative piece all on its own.
Only those that register for a medal will get one, AND only if they report a finish time. We will scrub through the list of reporters about once every week, so after your report your time, your medal will ship about a week thereafter. The last day to report your finish time is
August 19, 2019 (Deadline Extended) September 18, 2019.

Register by June 26 & your shirt, printed bib, patch, and/or coin will arrive by July 20. If you registered between June 27 & July 21, your shirt & bib (if ordered) will ship around August 10th. Other swag will ship a little before that.
- During the extended registration period, race swag will not ship until the beginning of October.
Everyone that registers for a patch/coin will get it - regardless of whether you finish your race. However those that register for a medal will NOT get it until after they report their time. ALL SHIRTS HAVE THE SAME IMPRINT.
The official race day is as listed above. Registration will be open through September 18, 2019! AS SUPPLIES LAST
To maintain the spirit of traditional events, we believe a finisher medal should be earned by finishing the race. We verify that you finished by requiring that you report your time to your account. If you do not report, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A MEDAL.
As far as we’re concerned, race day is as listed above and we anticipate that most people will race that day - BUT - the advantage of having a virtual race is you can do it when and where works best for you. So it’s up to you. Because we strive to honor the tradition of in-person races, you’ll receive messages as if that is race day for you, but just know that we’re okay with it if you need to do something different.
A portion of each registration will be donated to the National Park Foundation. We've raised over $300,000 for the NPF and we're honored to support them yet again for this race.
